I really enjoyed both. Two different styles yet each one hit me right. I like it.
BA: Honestly I have no clue. I can’t be bothered anymore with following what is ahead of the curve. Whether it’s from 40 years ago (which is about the age of the last album I bought or just put out yesterday) as long as it’s got soul of some kind it’s good with me.
I will say though that the new Don Caballero is pretty sweet. I’m just not sure if that was this year or last year.
Cool Wine Glasses
Do you think schools have the right to test children for alcohol?
I understand that if a child is drunk in school he should be punished but what if a parent allowed their 16 year old to have a wine cooler with dinner on Friday night or a glass of wine at a wedding on Saturday…the tests that they will be giving these children shows if any alcohol has been in their system up to 80 hours prior…some schools are thinking of making each child take this test on Monday morning….the test is so sensitive it can even detect if a child has used Listerine…….do you think the schools have this right?
I think some people are missing the point…yes the school should punish if the children drink on their property or come to school drunk BUT this test would show what a child did up to 80 hours before comming to school that would include weekends in which they are not on school property…
For those of you that do not believe the test detects for up to 80 hours here is the site of the company that makes it
http://www.ethylglucuronide.net/
If the test is as sensitive as you note, then I do not think schools have the right to test students for alcohol. Alcohol is shared with children, but not abused, in some cultures at family gatherings. Personally, I would not share alcohol with my children but if it’s a part of a family’s culture, then I don’t think it’s fair to punish a child and his/her family for that.
Hand Painted
I bought a little porcelain hand-painted egg at a second hand store, how can I find out how much it’s worth?
I found this great little porcelain egg with an owl sitting on a branch hand-painted on to it. I bought it in a second hand shop where the man who owns it pretty much just makes up a price off the top of his head for the stuff in his store. I think the egg may be pretty unique and I was wondering how do I find out how much it is really worth? Is there a website I could go to? Any help is appreciated!
The only way to get a true estimate it to take it to a couple of different antique stores, or hire a private appraiser. It sounds like a very nice little treasure.
